Autoadapt and hockey!

Yesterday morning, we got to sleep in until 9! It was amazing. We left for Autoadapt at ten. Autoadapt is a company that makes adaptations for cars to give people with disabilities their independence back.  It was really cool to go see all of the things that they do at Autoadapt.  Their company is very focused on a community workplace.  We talked to their CEO, Håkan Sandberg.

I thought he was really cool.  His views on businesses were very different than the views of America. About the community thing, he wants to know everyone he works with.  This includes the customers and his employees.  Even though he can do pretty much whatever he wants, he tries really hard to achieve this community thing.  It’s really cool.

He gave us a presentation about their values.
After the tour, we ate a nice lunch. At Autoadapt, everyone eats together. They just have a relaxed meal around noon and talk with each other. In America, people normally eat while they work and don’t take a break.  This further emphasized the whole community thing. I really enjoyed seeing this and talking to some of the people who worked at Autoadapt. They all seemed like they enjoyed working there, which is probably thanks to the fact that the working environment is so nice.

When we finished our lunch, we sat down and Håkan talked to us about his business and about some general things about businesses.  One thing he taught us was the five why’s.  If you are confused about something, you ask why until you know exactly what’s going on. He said five is a good number of why’s.
I slept on the way back and took a nap before dinner at 515. We went to a small Italian place and all ordered spaghetti.  I’m getting kind of sick of spaghetti…. We always get it because it’s so fast and easy and everyone pretty much likes it.  I’m all carbed out. I want meat… And cookies… Yummm
Go Frölanda!

There were these little boys waving these giant flats
After dinner, we went to the Frölanda game.  The Frölanda Indians are Gothenburg’s hockey team.  The game was super fun.  The only thing was the way they cheered.  They told us to sit down, and they didn’t cheer out loud very much (Like “yeah go Frölanda!”). Instead of cheering, they sang. Also, in the fan section, there was a giant drum that pounded during the whole game, which was like 3 hours.  We also found out that whistling is the same as booing. Ooops…
Katie, Claudia, and I all got free face paint. It was really cool. I felt like a super awesome fan.  We also snuck down to the second row and sat there instead of the 23rd row, way up in the nosebleed section. No one caught us! It was really fun. Everyone was missing teeth and we won the game!! I also had a 5-minute conversation with Katie, Ben, and Claudia about woofing… That was interesting.

After the game, Graham, Mac, Katarina, Julie, and I went to a crepe place. It was super cool. My crepe had Nutella and bananas on it. It was sooooo good!!!

Graham gave Julie his jacket. It's kinda big...
